Abstract
Carcinosarcoma is a malignant tumour that comprises a combination of epithelial and mesenchymal elements that can occur throughout the body including skin, lungs, oesophagus, colon, uterus, ovaries, head and neck region. However, only a few cases had been reported involving the paranasal sinuses. Carcinosarcoma of the maxillary sinus is an exceptionally rare and aggressive tumour. Symptoms vary depending on the individual. The common site of presentation usually involves the nose and facial area. We present an unusual case of carcinosarcoma of the left maxillary sinus in an elderly lady with the presentation of left nasal blockage, rhinorrhea associated with nasal swelling. In this condition, a multimodality treatment approach is recommended.
